Wow!  We’re about to swing into full effect of busy season!  If you have not yet secured 2012 Jan., Feb., March and April teaching vacations, now is the time.  Do not wait until the snow falls- we still have great selections available now. On to discuss January, February, March and April 2012 vacation spots.  Many of the well know popular resorts have been booked for some time by well planned and often seasoned Fit Bodies pros.  Don’t fret, I have some inside insight on the most luxurious destination spots still available.
Number 1-check out lesser-known destinations.  Some of our most fabulous resorts, newer to the lineup are yet to be publicly discovered by our pros.  For example, Puerto Vallarta has three resorts currently booking. The PVR Dreams Resorts, Villamagna and Puerto Vallarta, respectively, are among the most luxurious of the Dreams brand. Our newest resort on board, Palladium Vallarta Resort & Spa, is also a PVRresort catering to families and couples alike.  Opening in April and booking now is Now Amber Vallarta Bay and Secrets Vallarta Bay (adult only).  Fit Bodies looks forward to preparing you for wonderful teaching vacas at five Puerto Vallarta Resorts!!

Number 2 advice- Adults, you may need to consider family resorts.  Many family resorts do a wonderful job of catering to couples, singles and even provide adult only areas and dining options.   Family resorts are social and fun plus today they do not lack luxury at all.  I was very impressed with Now Jade.  With their huge beach, great service, large rooms I had a great time plus I think every dinner was childfree.

Number 3 advice-Families book your spring break and President’s holiday now! March availability still exists but it won’t for long.

How to fly to Puerto Vallarta?  I’m happy to help.  Explore Pacific, Mexico and all it’s beauty!

Huatulco, Mexico is located on pacific coast of Oaxaca in southern Mexico lie the 34 pristine beaches and nine unspoiled Bays of Huatulco. Weather is hot and sunny year round with beautiful pacific ocean waiting for you.

On with the HUATULCO FLIGHT OPTIONS!

Okay, you Houston residents are in for a treat! Known as the “Gateway to Mexico”, IAH is a direct, 2.25 hour flight to Huatulco. Huatulco’s airport code is HUX.  Awesome, except probably 98% of you reading this don’t live in Houston Here is valuable info and options for one stop flight options to cure your Huatulco crave!!
You’re looking at flying United or Continentals Airlines for this one, unless you are a Delta flight through Mexico City, but through Houston has wonderful options:

EWR New Jersey is less than 9 hours of travel to Huatulco. Not too bad. And my travel times include layover elapse.

ORD Chicago is less than 7 hours of travel to Huatulco. Better, better…

CVG Cincinnati is also less than 7 hours through Houston. Now we’re talking! I won’t dread that in December when I tour the new Secrets Property (yes, please keep your fingers crossed for me too)!! Columbus, OH and Cleveland are also a good airport for Sunday Huatulco travel.

Other nice options for Huatulco through Houston IAD are LGA Laguardia, also CLT Charlotte is pretty reasonable in terms of travel time. Also BOS Boston, MEM Memphis (less than 5 hours) and Nashville among so many others!

Travel time to Huatulco is less than 6 hours from TPA Tampa, IND Indianapolis, STL St. Louis, IAD Dulles, and BHM Birmingham.

Of course, let’s not forget all you yoga teachers and group fitness gurus flying from DEN Denver-less than 7 hours to and from HUX airport.  PHX Phoenix, less than 7 (TUS < and RDU Raleigh is less than 7 hours travel time to Huatulco.

These flights all have at least three things in common.  They are only 1 stop, less than 8 hours travel time (other than EWR) and all will take you to a wonderful, unforgettable vacation for you, your significant other or take the family.  These flights are all based on travel January 29-February 5, 2012 and the flight prices across the board were pretty consistently between $570 and $670.

This is not a complete list but rather I want to entice thoughts of a new exotic destination for your next Fit Bodies, Inc. teaching vacation. You’ll also find Huatulco layovers with Delta in Mexico City and that may be a great option for some west coast residents coming from LAX, ATL, SEA, DTW.

So don’t be afraid to really consider a week or two of travel to Huatulco, Mexico!

My stay at The Ritz-Carlton from May 22-31 was nothing short of completely amazing.  Arriving at the hotel so quickly after landing at the MBJ airport was wonderful.  Mr. Douglas and a glass of champagne greeted us at the door.  Smiles all around!

I love the colors of the Ritz!  Relaxing, yet reflecting Caribbean colors of hibiscus and such accompanying floral accents.   Our room is large, with garden view balcony, two double beds, and large bathroom with separate shower/tub and double sinks with a garden view.  I could see the ocean, too and it’s calm blue accents. The closet is large with a safe built into the wall.  All rooms have complimentary Ethernet and wifi is available in the lounge and Cohobar bar.

Each morning I walked around the resort, exploring the beach, pathways and even their garden where they grow vegetables like eggplant, peppers and a variety of herbs.  After my walk I was able to practice yoga, either on my own or by taking our own guest instructor’s yoga class.  Lovely, if I may say so myself! Listening to the gentle waves move in and out like our breath during asana practice.  Joyous!

Amidst the luxury resort with impeccable service and kind smiles, we did work hard.  Suzelle and I toured all our resorts, one day in Ocho Rios, and another day in Negril.  From Montego Bay, each trip was 90 minutes each way.  A mostly smooth ride, as the Jamaica roads have been improved over the years.  Being in Jamaica, meeting and greeting the colleagues I have the pleasure of emailing with daily, putting faces to the names, or email signatures I should say!  Wonderful! Negril resorts are looking good!  Business is booming at Hedonism II, and we were impressed with how wonderful Breezes Grand Negril looks with great looking crowd and more palm trees on the beach.  Very nice!

Ocho Rios- With access to Dunn’s River and a plethora of other tourist activities there is plenty to do on resort property and off.  Couples San Souci is a luxury jungle paradise, spread out and separated by mature Caribbean foliage and flowers.  With two wonderful beaches on each side of the resort, you can imagine how spread out the resort and sports complex is. Couples Tower Isle was jumping with a slightly younger, mature crowd, enjoying the island, and authentic ethnic cuisine served at the resort.  The new, state of the art fitness facility has indoor cycle bikes facing the ocean and cool, clean aerobics studio, too.

Back at The Ritz-Carlton Golf & Spa Resort, we conducted meetings and introduced a tennis position and a Kids yoga/fitness instructor position.  Both are now open to book on our reservation booking site, FitnessProTravel.com, for high season travel dates of October-Easter.  Therefore, The Ritz is now hosting a yoga teacher, group fitness instructor, tennis instructor or Kids Fitness professional on a regular basis. Very exciting for our pros and to the guests experiencing Fit Bodies, Inc. wonderful professionals while on vacation!

The internationally recognized Green Globe award has made it to The Ritz-Carlton Golf & Spa Resort in Rose Hall, Jamaica.  Green Globe Certification provides sustainability accreditation for travel and tourism businesses that operate in an environmentally responsible manner with efforts to conserve energy, water and other resources to reduce pollution and waste.

Fit Bodies, Inc. applauds The Ritz-Carlton staff for the instrumental changes in practices to make this possible.  Sustaining the effort can really lead to further “green” initiatives with other resorts on the island.

Fit Bodies, Inc. works with other Jamaica resorts awarded with the Green Globe Award in 2010 including Couples Swept Away, Couples Tower Isle, Couples San Souci, and Hilton Rose Hall Resort & Spa.   The green initiative practices by all these resorts are a wonderful example of what every resort is truly capable of in terms of ways we can leave a smaller footprint on this earth.

The Ritz-Carlton began modifying their resort policies over two years ago.  To garner Green Globe Certification, the resort implemented a variety of green practices in their daily operations, such as reusing linens, waste reduction, increasing energy efficiency, environmental education and community outreach. Over the course of two years, sufficient data was provided demonstrating consistent and ongoing green initiatives, from utilizing recycled paper to planting an herb garden for use by the culinary department. The Ritz-Carlton Environmental Action Conservation Team (REACT) oversaw sustainable efforts. REACT educates all departments on environmental practices designed to minimize the hotel’s carbon footprint.
